A Bedouin Arab – After John Singer Sargent

John Singer Sargent is a favorite of many contemporary artists’ lists of influential portraitists — including my own. I always loved his portrait titled “A Bedouin Arab” and this is my interpretation of his work. Even though he painted it in oil I tried to capture his precise “slash and dash” style. Great fun! If you’re not familiar with Sargent’s work, I strongly recommend seeking it out. He was an influential and incredibly popular artist of his day — on both sides of the Atlantic!
