So, this is a painting of a river I came across in Leadville, Colorado. I painted it with the intention of submitting it to the Annual National Watercolor Society Members Competition. Even though it’s small in stature it holds a good bit of information. If you’re an artist you know the thousands of decisions that are made to get to this point. Little did I know — no pun intended — that it didn’t meet the minimum size of an acceptable entry, — 9″ x 12″ — I failed to read the instructions. So I submitted one of my largest paintings. Probably a reaction of over compensation to my failure. Next time I’ll read the instructions.
